Alternative Fuels and Energy Carriers for Maritime Shipping

Aims: Explore various alternative fuels and energy carriers for the maritime sector, including those that are commercially available as well as currently under development. The workshop considers potential production pathways, emission reduction potential, infrastructure and onboard requirements, as well as implications on cost. The overall aim is to better understand some of the potential alternative fuels in the future marine fuel mix, and assess opportunities and barriers of each option.

Suggested Audience:

  • Government Officials - e.g. business, transport and energy officials
  • Energy companies and maritime fuel suppliers - e.g. persons exploring innovation/new alternative sources.
  • Port infrastructure side - e.g. persons responsible for bunker licenses.
  • Shipowners and operators - e.g. those exploring alternative fuel options.

Length: Four sessions of approximately 3.5 hours
